Greeks, Hellenes, Ionians (Yunan), Dorians, Danaans, Achaeans, Argeians, …. are the names of the same people: the Greeks. Arvanites are Greeks albanized after Roman occupation and re-hellenized during Ottoman occupation, mainly through religion. Arvanites did fight for Greece’s independence. Whoever does this is Philhellene and if he wants we consider him as Greek. As such he must learn Greek and teach Greek to his pupils. (I am sure that you Albanians humiliate them for this and don’t want them back, right??)
Getting Hellenized > become Hellene > be Hellene > nobody can distinguish me from other Hellenes.
About “African SlavoSkopian” the answer in: “Any visible difference between two groups of the same ethnicity could get accented by their politicians and lead them in ethnic separation: Bosnians - Serbians - Croatians.” The question here is “after how many generations a small African people melted with Greeks would loose their African linage and look like Greek?”
Yes ethnicity is multi-component.
Language is the main ethnic indicator after consciousness. If a people (not a person) speak Greek natively then they are Greeks. But if they would love to change that native language to something else, then they are not Greek. If language changes then ethnicity is about to change. But it can change back. I cannot belong to an ethnic group that I cannot communicate to.
What is left to be questioned is: which of the obove mentioned elements component to ethnicity - such as race, religion, culture, language, tradition - can lead towards the truth as the LEAST changeable in the corse of history and as a survivor of assimilation and/or imposition???!!!!!!
Nothing. All together. Attributing importance to uniting factors while lowering dis-uniting ones, this is the main factor of making ethnicities. Look at SlavoSkopians: ‘what if Macedonians had Greek names toponyms, ways, heroes, gods, dialect and spread Greek Language and Civilization to the World?’ they say! ‘what if all SlavoSkopian heroes clearly stated that they were Bulgarians??’ They (SlavoSkopians) do have answers/comments to those questions. But those answers are stupid and pathetic ones.
