Help with T-5xxx nomenclature

Hi all....I'm building a T-5xxx using Rossagraph and Kagero books as refernces.
My idea is to built a polish T-55 used by JNA troops in balkan war.
I've posted some photos of my work over armorama and we've had a debate about nomenclature.
What we've found intersting and one of the point of debate is the squared air filter hatch.
These squared hatch is a typical feature of T-54.
Oblung air filter hatch is the one of T-55.
On the references that I've used, the tank with squared hatch is called T-55.
My guess is that T-54 rebuilt can be called T-55 by Polish Army.
I post here cause I hope that someone can help me to get the right nomenclature.
At least I wish to know what I've built happy.gif
I post some pics of my work.
Comments are welcome.
Regards
Ciro Riccio

It's actually "new" T-55A. Not rebuilt T-54, or something. All JNA (PL-made) vehicles were new-built.
Polish T-55A/AD just have square air-cleaner hatch, like in T-54, that's why they were confused with T-54.

And there's no thing such as T-55LD - simply, Poland in 1965 has 1258
T-54A/AM, about 400 were sold to Arab countries in 60/70's, the rest were rebuild and called T-55U.
Early T-55 (without AA MG) were modernised to T-55A standard, and called T-55M.
In 1986 PL operated 1295 T-55U/M.

Najpewniejsze wydaja sie opracowania plka Jerzego Kajetanowicza.

Niestety, najczesciej wszelkie opracowania dot. przemyslu zbrojeniowego w PRL traktuja temat dosc pobieznie; czesto jest to wynikiem utajnienia danych - nic dziwnego skoro np. wiekszsco produkowanych w Hucie Stalowa Wola transporterów MT-LB trafiala prosto do ZSRR.

Polecam tez opracowania o poczatkach przemyslu czolgowego i produkcji czolgu T-34/85:

Oh, tego sie obawialem. Wielka tajemnica wojskowa.
No to podobnie jak w ZSRR.

Wszystkie klapy byly tez wpuszczone w pancerz.
Instrukcje byy najprawdopodobniej kopiowane z radzieckich - stad roznice.
W T-55 made in ZSRR oraz made in CSSR otwierala sie ona na prawa strone, a wszystkie klapy wystawaly poza pancerz.
