Response to Complete The Lyric " I Just Dropped In To See What Condition

Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) Who first recorded it or who made it popular? I believe Jerry Lee Lewis did record it before Kenny Rodgers and the 1st Edition made it a hit, so did the songs writer, Mickey Newbury. Willie Nelson recorded it a few years ago also.
