Does 'springer rated' suggest a scope will last on a centerfire?

I had a Weaver Rimfire Classic scope on a rimfire, then moved to a springer, then moved to a 7.62x39 centerfire rifle. This last rifle has a lot more kick than the rimfire and springer and the crosshairs broke today while shooting it. This surprised me as I thought a springer rated scope meant it was really tough. Would you expect an air rifle scope to last on a 30 cal rifle?
