...just when I'm all ready to take lessons, I see that the instrument uses 40 fingering combinations (plus 12 alternate fingerings) to produce all the notes within its range, and crossing the break from Bb to B natural on the staff further complicates matters.
I want something easy to learn, which is why I'm considering a brass instrument using 3 piston valves. There are only 8 different combinations on those 3 valves, plus altering the embouchure slightly to hit the different registers, AND no reeds to constantly replace!
This is why I'm now looking at the Bb Baritone Horn.
