I got into Astronomy when I was discharged from the US Army in 1962, which was FIFTY years ago, not thirty!
Don't make me feel young...I invested almost 76 years in my age and I don't want to feel like some squirt in his 50's!
My next instrument is going to be either a Cornet or a Fluegelhorn, and I can promise you that I WON'T study it very hard or very long!
If I never learn how to play any instrument by reading music, then that's what's ordained for me! I do just fine playing Piano, Guitar, Banjo, and Bass by ear in informal settings, without some dictatorial bandleader telling me to play it more mezzoforte and watch those dotted quarter notes. WHO NEEDS IT?
To me, it's not playing the instrument that's important...it's HAVING that instrument, just so I can tell others that I have one!
(I'll bet you still don't get this, do you?)
HAROLD (Playing the Fender Bass BY EAR is Nirvana!)
