Response to I hate jury duty, is there really a penalty for not registering and going

Being the old fossil that I am carries the memory of a high school class they used to offer called "civics". When I serve on a jury I listen to the judges instructions and try my very best to carry them out to the letter. And I consider it an incredible privlege. But I show up. The last jury I could have served on was a capitol murder case and I had to be dismissed due to heart procedure. Really pissed me off not to be able serve.

Nobody likes jury duty but if you ever sit in the defendants chair, or are family of someone who has been victimized by the person in the defandants chair...you will really hope those folks in the jury box have some interest in the whole process.

And yes, contempt charges are real.
