Heroin withdrawal is tortorous but once it's over and a month has gone by, you start feeling better and sleeping regular. The first 7 days are the hardest. It's technically out of your system in 72 hours; but your body doesn't start to produce its' own natural opiates for about two weeks or more. We all have natural opiates our body makes. 600 nano grams per milliliter or less is a natural level. 600 is actually high but normal levels if body senses pain and releases them. Anything over 600NGPML and they know you've been using.
The hard part about cigarettes is it's legal, in your face everywhere, easy to get, not looked down upon like Heroin. Heroin is harder to get, illegal, many possible undesirable consequences. There's a difference.
If you really want to quit anything, you can. It comes down to determination.
