I finally got around to building a spring compressor this weekend, it has been on my list for a while but my dieseling Xocet finally made me do it.
• (1) Trailer Jack from Harbor Freight - Item # 42950 - $15.99 (on sale) • (2) 5/16”x1-¾” x 4-1/4” U bolts from Lowes- Item #196573- $2.24 • (1) 5/16”x2-1/2”x5” U bolt from Lowes- Item #196575- $1.32 • (1) 1”x6”x6’ Spruce board from Lowes- Item #950- $3.91 • (2) Hex bolts to hold the Trailer Jack- I had some lying around- <$1.00
I had a 1”x2” piece of scrap wood lying around I used to give the sights clearance and some shrink tubing to pad the U bolts but those are completely optional. I put it together and it works great. I removed the factory grease and applied Beeman M2M paste (Molybdenum Disulfide paste) to my Xocet and my new R7. Having the spring compressor really helped, it is a little big but it is easy to control and will handle the strongest spring gun for around a $25 total investment.
