Recently there was some interest in parallax and focus correction in fixed focus scopes and I again referred to the use of the objective stop down card I have used for many years and which pre-dates me in OZ by many years.

Yesterday I repeated a previously reported test to demonstrate what can be done;
I set my scope for parallax and focus at infinity on the AO and at 14 yards shot four shots thus: The first was shot sighting through the very top of the field of view; the second while sighting through the very bottom edge of the field of view; the third through the very right edge and the fourth through the very left edge. The group so shot is composed of the four shots wide of the sticker in the pic below. ... I then inserted the card in the objective bell and did the same again. Remember that although the sight picture is less bright due to less collected light, the field of view is not diminished / not made smaller.
The group formed is in the top of the sticker. ( The sight was zeroed at 50 yards which gives a 14 yards POI of + 0.2 inches ).

Remember the sight was itself parallax adjusted to infinity, not 100, 50 or even 20 yards!
Groups were shot sitting on the floor with a wrist rest on a chair seat with the BSA Hornet .22.
If you have a good old centre fire fixed lens scope why not make a card and in fair light you may find it a useful addition to your equipment for air gunning .............. Kind regards, Yrrah.
