... several months have passed. Please provide a status of this project: 1)Funding, 2)Casting, 3)Permits / Permissions, 4)Projected Production / Release dates ...etc.
Well look at the market reach for this particular film.... the demographic that would be interested are those folks from Montvale, Woodcliff Lake and (maybe) Hillsdale. This event occurred 30 years ago and was a big deal at the time, particularly because of the rarity of this type of event. Since then we've seen other mass murder / suicides, school shootings, horrific terrorist attacks, and so-on. When the "Long Island Lolitta" (regarding good old Joey Buttafuco) aired on ABC and NBC the market share was relatively high in the northeast market...folks living in that area were interested in it as they constantly hear the blow-by-blow nightly new coverage. But other markets (Chicago, LA, Texas, etc) had a much lower viewership...... leads me to believe that film may have a tough time getting evem a modest market share.... what do you think ??
The $500,000 budget being referred to by "nottachance" is for the documentary film Harry...A Communication Breakdown. This film is currently halfway through the production stage. Starline Films anticipates that it will move into post-production this spring, and will be ready for distribution and promotion this summer, including entry into several influential film festivals. They're release date is still on schedule for November 28 of 2006, which marks the 30th anniversary of the incident.
As for the feature film Anyone's Son: they have secured numerous locations already, and are currently negotiating with several top actors and directors. They have already drawn significant interest from a two-time Academy Award nominated production designer who will spearhead their crew. They are tentatively scheduled to begin shooting this film in the fall of 2006, and a $10 million production budget is being secured.
As for James Gandolfini, I've been told that the Park Ridge native is one of several A-List actors being approached for important roles in this film.
In short, labelling the feature film Anyone's Son as a "major motion picture" is not optimistic, it is in fact realistic. "Notta Chance" is obviously "Notta in the Know". As one of the nearly 300 alumni committee members, I can tell you they are moving forward at the proper pace.
Hey now, I was just asking questions - no reason to insult me.
The website says:
"Starline Films is offering all Pascack Hills Alumni, industry and non-industry professionals the opportunity to assist in financing the development of our feature film Anyone's Son or our Documentary Harry...A Communication Breakdown."
That says "our feature film OR our documentary..."
and then...
"This contribution may be allocated as 10% ownership of Harry or 10% ownership of the development budget of Anyone's Son."
There's that "OR" again.
So, to be clear - If I choose the film and not the documentary, $50k gets me 10% ownership of the "Development Budget" of the film, which has a Production Budget of $10 million. Does that then translate into a .5% ownership of the film itself?
So that if the film grosses $100 Million dollars I'd get a return on my investment of $450,000? Or do we have to back-out all the promotional, print duplication/distribution and other overhead expenses first?
Is there an offical prospectus for investors that defines all this? That would certainly be helpful (not to mention ethical) in attracting potential investors.
If you are an alumnus of the school, or even not, I'm sure the fine folks at Starline Films would be more than happy to send you information and speak to you about financing.
My suggestion to you would be to go back to the home page of this website and click on 'financing'. There is a form you would complete, requesting your name and address, and then someone from their company would send you information.
I know several other committee members who have done this, and they had all their questions answered for them in a professional and courteous manner. Each of them has indicated how respectful Starline was in answering their concerns and describing how it all works.
That's the easiest way to know the right information, to directly go to the source.
You get your name in a feature film, you get to go to the premiere, and you get to be part of the process of making a film about a major event that happened in your town, and still happens today of kids killing their parents. Maybe you should call them and ask them.
You forgot to add that the person who contributes toward the financing of the film will be a partial owner of the film! Once the film makes it's money back you get your investment back in full. If the film makes a profit, you will also make a profit.
Investment 101 man!!!
--> My response to the answers I got from my question:
A)..to mr./ms. "Answer_In_General" .... I (we) should not have to the
ask for information from the people soliciting ($10k), but
rather they should disclose the specific benefits of contributing
as part of their "pitch", up-front.
B) ..to mr./ms. "Alumni" ... I think rather than quoting "finance
101", you should study "Common Sense 101" first and be a little
inquisitive.
poetic license bitch, what are you, smugly walking the halls of a local community college? HEHE...I like your posts, you take no prosoners. Keep it up Notta!
