Wexler Passes 100,000 Mark! Wants Quarter Million Impeachment Supporters!
by Anonymous
Congressman Robert Wexler indicated that he hoped he would receive at least 50,000 signatures of support online when he announced along with House Judiciary Committee colleagues his intention to bring before that body the subject of impeaching George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
Since that initial announcement support has reached levels that enabled Wexler to double his initial expectation as he has just passed the 100,000 milestone. He now is hopeful of receiving 250,000 signatures of support in his effort and anticipates initiating action before the end of the year.
It is significant to note that when Congressman Wexler approached the mainstream media about running his announcement as an op-ed piece that he was spurned by those stalwarts of the mainstream media, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe and USA Today.
Perhaps those prestigious publications were miffed at Wexler for not supplying something currently newsworthy about the exploits of Britney Spears or Paris Hilton rather than concerning himself with saving the U.S. Constitution and American democracy.
The only mainstream publication willing to print Wexler's vital message was the leading newspaper in his home state of Florida, the Miami Herald, which ran an edited version of his op-ed in its "Letters to the Editors" section.
It is time for the people to take a stand and ignore the tired establishment voices of the Joe Kleins, Tom Friedmans and George Wills and unite to end a regime of deceit and corruption in which the U.S. Constitution has been more than trashed and assaulted.
The Constitution has been removed from the current system of government in which neoconservative marauders hijack democracy and substitute an Orwellian vision of suppression of the many by the few.
