Response to My retort.

This discussion is becoming a little long-winded as it seem we'll never agree. I guess we all have different ways of playing our characters and none of them is necessarily the "best".

Even though this may seem a little contradictory I have some comments to make.

As I was posting my last message, I was in the process of starting my new Warrior who has now made lvl 10. The comments I made were based on what was happening to me in that particular game.

You will find that when you first start a new character, the equipment offered by Griswold will be lousy. In my experience you can never find anything better than a Claymore in lvls 1-3, maybe 4. I find that Griswold starts selling me better stuff once I have started a new game as this seems to reset his item lists.

IME I have never found Studded Leather Armour until lvl 5 in the dungeon, but before that Gris had sold it to me after I started a new game.

You still really didn't answer my question, what do you save the gold on? 100 gold is not a lot IME, trust me. Small Shield AC=8 is better than any other shield you will find early on in the dungeon. A Skull Cap AC=4 is the best Headgear you will find until Helms start appearing. Leather Armour AC=13 is the best Gris will sell to a beginning character. None of this can be found in the Dungeon, except for the Skull Cap which only costs 25 gold anyway.

If we do our sums, 8+13+4= 25 AC. Then you add the 4 beginning AC to the equasion and you get 29 AC. AFAIK you get 1 more AC point per 5 DEX points. So this means 40/5 =8. In total this makes 37 AC. I know that this isnt anything spectacular, but don't you think it's better than nothing? I find that it gives me quite good protection until Mail starts appearing.

One more thing we have to keep in mind. Most newbies are careless with their Warriors, at best reckless no matter how much you tell them to be cautious. AFAIK your guide is intended for newbies and not "veterans" like us. Some AC, no matter how little it might seem to us, can be the difference between life and death for a newbie.

Well thats my opinion anyway,

P.S Roland, do you mind giving me some feedback on the guide i sent? BTW it is only a sample, I'm in the process of writing more now.
