Response to Counter-Counter-Counter Nits! =)

Regarding the first paragraph, fine, if you believe that, that is up to you. But, I have started several Sorcerors and travelled to the Caves, only to find that I couldn't wield a certain staff I found there due to my low Str. and having not been able to afford Elixirs yet.
IMO, it's all just a matter of luck.

Suppose it is luck. Oh well.

Are you sure about your 100% hit rate? I tried and when I run to the upper left, the Butcher gets stuck in the lower left corner of his lair, but he moves around a bit and sometimes he manages to evade the Firewall. Sure you might say, you can use more than one, but actually doing our tactics relies on a few things.

-
He'll move when doing the Grate method, too, when you're shooting firebolts at him. This is a VERY wasteful tactic, and you just about ALWAYS have to use 2 firewalls. Also, a level 8 or higher mage who doesn't know Fwall by heart already is in for ALOT of trouble. He should know this spell already. Orim does! And he's an AWiz!

a) That you actually find a Scroll of Firewall
b) That if you don't find one, that Adria is selling one and that you can afford more than one.

Forgetting books?

About Leoric, well I didn't say you wouldn't have any trouble, I said a newbie might. What happens if find Leoric in a room full of his Archer buddies? Sure you can CB but from experience, unless you can find a good position, they will stun-lock you before you get a chance to fire many off. However, I will concede that in an enclosed area with no Archers, your tactic might be more efficient than mine. The trade-off is that mine is considerably safer for a Newbie.

-
I didn't say enclosed area. I said very open area. The BIG OPEN rooms. The ones with 4 pillars inb the middle. And I was playing following the way my guide was (was going to be, at that point, hehe) written. Archers? Gah... What a bitch. I used my duck and cover methods, using pillars, as well as running out, CBing about 5 shots or so, and then runnning like MAD around to the corner.

* ---> X

x = archers (VERY sketchy)
* = me
X = where I would run to

This was costly, but worked somewhat well. Mad hly bolts worked good, too. BUT, I found the best tactic, after doing the above one several times, was hcarging into the room with Holy Bolts flying left and right at archers. (I aimed well. Told you, practice practice practice!!!) This was a VERY good tactice. I used happy feet, as wel, when charging, and I slaughtered em with less damage than my other method. Leo was NO trouble. With your method, archers will NOT come to you through a doorway, or at all. They run AWAY. Sorry, but I think , IMO, that you need to try Leo again several times. But, hey, that's me.
