While it is an interesting (and suggested several times) idea, I have to wonder about it.

Yes, now that you have shone it to me again it does seem like a slightly better idea. However, the use of the staff of CB allows you to clear multiple enemies at a time. Now, I know that no character, be they Sorceror or otherwise, should ever let themselves get swarmed, but come on, it happens. Not always because one is blindly rushing into mobs of enemies, either. I have found myself surrounded simply because of the large open area of the level, and even though I was advancing slowly, multiple enemies did approach me. I'm sure you can say you've seen the same thing. The advantage of the staff + potion? Simple. You whack what you can, but should you get swarmed (and let's face it, it does happen), you can take down 1 or more enemies with either a firebolt or a charged bolt from your staff. I recommend SAVING the potion once you get it in favor of the staff, as the staff in the long run will provide MUCH better cost efficiency for several clvl's. (I forget exactly, although it does depend on how many charges are in your staff.) Let's say we have the 40 charge staff. To use this, we woould need 240 mana. That's alot, for a starting Sorceror. Now, that would ALSO be MULTIPLE potions. That same amount of money could be used to completely recharge the staff, AND have a good amount of money left over. I never repair the staff unless absolutely necessary, or if I am getting a good amount of gold (which nby that point I don't even use the staff to attack).

You say mid to late game for the pre/suffix? Nay. I have bought at a VERY low level a staff of Sorcery, +20. It's a GREAT item for ANY low level sorceror. Due to its low qlvl, it can be bought at a very low level. I think even as low as clvl<10. Now that's not only 40 more mana, but 20% more magical to hit AND the ability to read books MUCH better. You won't see sword of sorcery or bucklers of brilliance for a longer time, as Griz rarely sells them. Also, a useful prefix could be as little as 10 mana. It really doesn't matter.

Point being, you could save the money. Or you could buy two potions and save THEM. That's what I do, and it works quite well. While I'll consider putting your idea into my guide, I don't think I'd stress its use very hevaily. (And yes, I'm thinking about putting it in. Just gotta find the time.

Just my thoughts.
