How are you making those sentences red

How are you making those sentences red. I think that is a good way to make what other people have said when you are quoting them?

put this code in the front of your quote and the end at the rear, and put a < on each end >

once you get it right make a hot key for the format and it is easy, I use texpander so I put the code in or else I use a fkey

FONT color="#FF0000"
Red

FONT color="#0000FF"
blue

/font
end

Ok I know how to do that with HTML. I looked at the code of a page where you had made the text colored and saw the code but I thought perhaps there was some other formatting code you could be using that was being converted to HTML.

If you are using one key only to make one color you have to open and close the tag. How are you dealing with that?

ie.

moo

<font color=#0000FF>moo</font>

Paris

You have to open the tag and then close the tag.

So to open the tag you use the <font color="0000FF"> and to close the tag you use </font>

Then what ever text you put between the open and close tag has the what the opening tag does applied to it.

Fred
If you want to show the < and > charactors and not have them applied to HTML you just use the following 4 charactors with no spaces

< = & lt; (with no space between the & and the l)
> = & gt; (with no space between the & and the g)

You have to open the tag and then close the tag.

Like this

How exciting is that???

Thank You Qwerty

I was putting the long code in front and in back of the text.

Hey it would be nice if we could use the <strike>moo</strike> tag but it converts the < and > to ANSI & lt; and & gt; .

Hey thanks qwerty, that is how it looks before I push send, this forum though reduces the & gt; to < if you preview it

Re: How are you making those sentences red

hahaha I figured out how to do it.

strike through

The <strike>strike though</strike> tag doesn't work as the forum software converts the < and > of the strike tag to & lt; and & gt; (minus the space). So you have to use CSS code and then apply it using the style tag inside a tag that the forum will accept. The forum will accept the <font>moo</font> tag so I put it in that.

<font style="text-decoration:line-through;">strike through</font>

Now when I have to change my posts after some one has quoted a mistake I can just cross out the old words with the text-decoration:line-through; and make the correction.

Fred why don't you get your own domain $9 and hosting for a year $50 and put up phpbb and that way you own the content. I run a phpbb forum so I know how the software works pretty good. Just a thought.

qwerty, this forum cost 200 a year and I don't have to think about it! If I have my own domain, instead of playing with colors, i have to keep the server going, it isn't worth it.

If you want to fix the following spacing problem: God and the Father Gladwin
<font style="text-decoration:line-through;">God and the Father </font>Gladwin

Just put the space out side the tags and it will look like this:
God and the Father Gladwin
<font style="text-decoration:line-through;">God and the Father</font> Gladwin

Also you don't need to use the & lt; only the & gt; (remove the space between the & and the g or l). The > don't need to be convertedwith the & gt; .

"i have to keep the server going, it isn't worth it."

Once it is up and running there is no not much maintenance. You don't need your own server you get a shared hosting account.

One thing with this software is after 50 pages they drop off. Any way this a thought.

Well this seems to be making everyone happy, i am a member of a precious metals forum that is php based,

I might change it someday, but not till we have a bigger attendance, and a couple of techie gurus as moderators.

I had my son help me with this one and dont care to take the time for the new forum learning curve.

Actually Pastor Paul offered to use the Calvary chapel server to host a php for us, but this forum is a little unconventional, and I like to make it so I am the bad guy so if a church hosts it, it becomes another set of issues that increase "rules" to please everyone.

$50 a year for a shared hosting account so you don't need any one to host sites for free for you. I have so many hosting accounts it hard to keep track of them all.
