The more you think about something the more there is to know about it. For everything has many twists and turns and traps about it.

Some things have the trap set tight, or they won't spring until you get weighty with them. Or the twist and turns won't come till late in life or far down the road. So if you don't do or probe the questions {do the adventure} that spring the traps or run quickly off the highway to hell where the road narrows and begins to turn and twist in frontier, valleys and mountains and high barren tablelands, you may never get there. But why would you want to go where you can spring a trap or the road gets hard and rough? You don't as long as you can trick yourself. The self trap don't hurt or keep you if can tell good lies to yourself. And transformed light looks good all the way to the door of heaven.

I don't know if I know exactly what you are getting at, but too many people do simply convince themselves of what ever they want to believe. Some who don't want to stand alone but want to fit in with a group might tell themselves, I dare not trust my own light, when God might be asking them to carefully study and to use their own heads and dare to be a Daniel. Yet others might not want to fit in with a group and rather might want to stand out, when God tells them to submit and reconize the good direction of others. Yes, truth and what God is asking is what counts in each situation. If we are not totally honest we are foolishly twisting and turning and tricking ourselves, and although it might seem good even till we reach heavens door, the door will be locked for without are those who love and make lies. May God have mercy on all of us.
