The Sinful Woman
Luke7:36-50
Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him,so he went to the to the Pharisees’s house and recline at the table. When a woman who lived a sinful life in town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisees’s house, she brought an alahabster jar of perfume, and stood behind at his feet weeping, she became to wipe his feet with her tears .Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them

When the Pharisees who had invited him saw this he said to himself” If this man was a prophet, he would know who is touching him what kind of woman she is-that she was a sinner”.

Jesus answered him”Simon, I have something to tell you” “ tell me Teacher” He said.
“Two men owed money to a certain moneylender, one owed him five hundred denarul, and the other fifty.Neither of them had money to pay him back,so he canceled the debts of both , now which of them will love him more?”.
Simon replied ,”I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.” “ You have judged correctly.” Jesus said.

Then he turned toward the woman, and said to Simon”Do you see this woman ?I came to your house, you did not not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with the tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore I tell you her many sins have been forgiven-for she loved much. But he who been forgiven little loves little”Then Jesus said unto her your sins are forgiven.”.
Jesus said to the woman” your faith has saved you” go in peace.

The Pharisees was doing the right thing by inviting Jesus to dinner. You could see his attitude, was critical,he certainly did not follow the Pharisees, customs , when having someone for a guest.
He failed to give him water to wash his feet, nor greet him with a kiss as was the custom of that day.

But the woman , was crying for help, you can see that she was burden, with her sins, and felt condemn, and was crying for mercy.
This woman gave everything , used her tears to wash his feet and used her hair to dry his feet, and put on expensive perfume.over his feet. She put emotion and feeling , and sincerity, in her love for Jesus.

When he saw what the Pharisees was thinking, that, this woman was burden with many sins,he would know who she was , surely he would condemn her. But Jesus came back with a question to the Pharisees, and he answered, his own critical thinking.
Simon had to agree that the one with the most debt was the one more thankful.People that are deep into sin , know what it is like to have the burden of sin lifted, and how Satan had a hold of them. They know what it means to hear the words .When Jesus said “ your sins are forgiven, go in peace.Jesus knew the turmoil that this woman had .and now was lifted from.the darkness she had been in.

Are we the Pharisees, with a critical atitude?or the sinfull woman, who was forgiven?

Hi Don; I had a response all typed out and my battery ran out... and I lost it. Will get back later.

"If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?"
Psalm 130:2
