Hi Psych, I think I drove past your place this past weekend. My husband and I are sort of neighbours of yours. We're in the Okanagan and we went to visit our daughter out at Point Grey. We drove into Vancouver on the freeway and turned off at Granview exit, and then along 12th and 10th. Some where along there we must have driven within a couple of miles of your place. Next time I'll wave!
We are renting a home near Vancouver for the summer, while my husband has a few construction contracts on the go. We need to host a big ol BBQ and meet all you west coast folks sometime when I come up there some weekend. It would be so interesting to meet all you guys!

Burnaby for the first contract and the greater Vancouver area for the remaining contracts. However, the house is in Burnaby. That is quite a drive from the Okanagan isn't it? I usually fly over those mountains, so it never looks that far from the air!
I'm in the West End of Vancouver, so you probably were fairly close! I live right on Stanley Park and within a three block walk to the ocean on either side, so next time you come by let me know. We'll grab Timmy's or Starbucks and stroll along the SeaWall. The ocean strolls are beautiful this time of year, especially with all the snow still in the mountains.
Grace - be sure to let me know when you're in Vancouver! If you love shopping, colourful fruit/veggie markets or are like me and are a big foodie I can make ya pretty happy! Plus, the scenery here isn't anything to scoff at either.

Hi Grace, you are driving within 5k of our place if you go through Vernon,or if you go via Kamloops on 97-N its just turning on the right driveway so come over and stop at our place, you can stay for steak dinner. Also come over for night . we have lots of room.We even can have a party.Arm you can come over to, for the party.Just tell me when, and we will make it a date. After all I am almost your uncle.
Well, this is exciting...maybe this whole Vancouver connection may prove very interesting for me as well. So far I have been a tad bit cool about my husband renting his own space and me running the home front, (at least it forces me to admit that my husband does do something around here...) I LOVE shopping and can't wait to discover the best shopping. Love the markets, I can't wait to meet you Psychtrancer.
Don, some of our dearest friends just moved to Vernon, so when we get into that neck of the woods we will most definitely come and hang with an almost uncle. I adore both you and your wife.
Arm, I have always wanted to meet the women behind all those wise posts in person.
Now here is a thread I cant help posting on: my wife and I love big city culture, but our favourite has to be Vancouver. Well she might say Victoria. We dont get to Van enough, but the last time was a very enjoyable few days at a dowtown hotel (the Sutton, which I'd highly recommend). My very favourite passtimes in the city are stepping out into the sidewalk crowd in the evening, coffee houses, good food, the harbour, looking at new buildings........ahh i wish i was there right now.
I'm not sure what is wrong with the address. I get some sort of server error, but you can try tirone@k.st. That one was seeming to work. I don't like giving out my good email address on the internet because of all the junk mail crawlers. I'll give it to you once I get your message.
**And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.**
Almost-uncle Don, thank you for the invite. Let me know when the party happens though as much as I'd like to attend, work and family commitments always seem to come before my interests. My free time goes to visiting children (daughter in Van., son in Kelowna), and my parents, whom as you probably know, aren't very healthy.
Psych - We would have been even closer to you if we had choosen to go to China Town to get our pork and cream buns. Instead we went to an excellent Chinese bakery on West Boulevard just off 41st. Its highly recommended if you ever move to that part of the city.
Grace, if you go to Vancouver in summer, and the weather is nice, you will fall in love with the city. Downtown has excellent shopping, but my favorite is on 4th and Broadway. There are good restaurants there as well.
If you're into hiking Lind Valley, Grouse, Cypress and Seymour are nearby parks and mountains that are worth going to even in the rain!
According to my kids there is an excellent market in North Van as soon as you get off the seabus. They prefer it to the Granville Island Market though that one is also fun for an afternoon.
