This movie has been making some waves at film festivals including Cannes. It is about a love triangle set among the Mexican Mennonites and features Low German dialogue.
I haven't seen it. I did read the comments posted about it. It was as I had imagined it. A kind of stuck in time love triangle. Just like the people who are stuck in time with their dress and doctrines.
Kind of a dream world, meditative in that the people just can't wake up and smell the coffee..Nope haven't seen it, but it's not that hard to imagine.
It is for sale on e-bay. But with the shipping and exchange from England I let "Facing the Giants" sit on my shelf for a year before I saw it. I am not a TV man. I think it would likely be very interesting though. I went to see "The Shunning" (My daughter was director.) (Written by a Friesen) Except for my daugher the entire Cast knew NOTHING about Mennonites or Amish other than what they had read. However they did a FANTASTIC Job. and in many ways it was very true to life. If you ever get a chance to see that play it is well worth the time to see it.

It was a Play - My daughter is studying for her Bach of Fine Arts in Stage management and it was a Play that was done almost a year ago. I think it was done in Winipeg once before. But when if ever it will be done again I am not sure. But it was quite true to life. I would tell you more about the play but I would not be doing justice to it plus spoil it for you if you ever did get a chance to see it.
I could never immagine it but she wanted Shakespeare books for Christmas, Birthday when she was in High School. Now for a Summer Job she is doing "Shakespeare in the Park" Doing what she likes and getting paid for it.
