Two Natures of Christ

I have posted this before as part of discussion of who Jesus is and how we might understand some difficult questions about Him. In another discussion here, the natures of Christ was referred to and for any interested, here is some info. The following is copied from "Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics" by N.L. Geisler.

"The orthodox view of the two natures of Christ is that one person is both God and human. The two natures commune intimately but do not overlap... Since Christ is one WHO (person) with two Whats (natures), whenever one question is asked about Him it must be separated into questions, one applying to each nature. For example, did He get tired? As God, no; as human , yes. Did Christ get hungry? In His divine, no; in His human, yes. Did Christ die? In His human nature He did die. His divine nature is eternally alive. He died as God-man, but His Godness did not die.

When the same logic is applied to to other theological questions raised by Muslims, it yields the same kind of answer. Did Jesus know everything? As God He did, since God is omniscient. But as man Jesus did not know the time of His second coming... Could Jesus sin? The answer is the same; as God, no; as man yes (but He did not). God cannot sin... Yet Jesus 'was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin'. While He never sinned, he was really tempted and it was possible for Him to sin. Otherwise, His temptation was a charade. Jesus possessed the power of free choice which means that when He choose not to sin it was a meaningful choice... "

When he died, He was died with our sins on Him. God cannot tolerate sin and had to, by His very nature, turn His back on His only son, fully knowing what Jesus was going to do. Jesus took our sins and threw them in hades/hell/lake of fire (whatever terminology you want to use.) When He rose from the grave, He was God-head again. What I THINK happened during those three days is that 1)He threw our sins in hell, 2)Took back what Adam lost in the Garden of Eden, 3)He offered His blood on the mercy seat that I think is in heaven and from then on Satan could no longer be present when the sons of God met with the Lord. Job 1:6-7, and Job 2:1-2. There is no recordings of the such in the NT. calledoutPTL
