Guns and hunting

Taken from the Conference Report thread:

>>13. It was decided that the proper use of guns is no sin, and regarded as all other allowable things of which men make conscience, but because of the weak brethren it was considered better not to eat meat than to ruin his brother. The abuse of guns to go hunting from pleasure was not allowed.<<

I never knew this statement by JH was on the books but they might as well get it taken out. Why else would a person have a double barrel shotgun if it weren't used for hunting? The Holdemans in western Kansas are big on hunting pheasants. There is a lot of deer hunting in our area. The only way I could see abuse in hunting would be if it became an obsession.

Fred, thanks for posting those.

Again, legalism at it's finest.....

As long as you eat one bite of meat off the animal it is considerd hunting for food (necessity) and not for sport.
