I have these growing in my yard. It started off like maybe some kind of flower.. and now it looks really interesting. Most people tell me it's a weed. I am wondering what it is.
I will post a beginning picture and then 2 of what they look like now. Some of them are about 6 ft tall. (and this isn't a trick photo... )
Sorry.. so big.. I thought I had made them small.

That was uncalled for about the mower, I'm sorry. They're beautiful, what in the world was I thinking. My wife says they can be used for respirtory issues.

Mullein? Interesting!! A person can eat that plant? Does anyone know how you eat it or what you use it as an herb on?
No.. I don't believe this one caused my allergy. I think it was this plant that has tiny white flowers and those little tiny sticker things that stick on to socks.
Looks like they use it to clear up allergies! Somebody said there is usually an antidote to every poison within 15o feet, so there you go lark, take the antidote and clear up the allergies!
Lark, I've eaten a lot of different wild plants but never heard of anyone eating this one. If I'm not mistaken the leaves are used as a tobacco substitute (actually helps clear the lungs) and the only other use I've heard of is Native Americans slipping them into their leather foot gear(PC?) Dr. Scholl's style. Those pictures make me homesick. My HEART is in Tenn. but my BUTT is in Nebraska. Oh, well.
Gene.. ty for the information. I looked it up too.. quite interesting. If it would help you homesickness for TN... I can pack some of these wonderful plants up and send them to you. My hubby would definitely be glad for me to get rid of them. lol
Lark, I suspect you would indeed send some....unfortunately I probably wouldn't get them planted any sooner than I've managed to get those ear studs IMplanted (for different reasons, of course). Thanks anyway.
