Slavery was to be abolished in 1861 - Or was that the year Abe Lincoln was killed?
Ga 5:1 ¶ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Yet I see soo much slavery, Slavery to credit card debt. Slavery to religion, Slavery to the paycheck - Slavery to debt, Mortgages and car payment, plus payments on the quad and the skidoo not to speak of the boat. What keeps you from the freedom to spend the time with the Family, to travel or do whatever you would like??
Or is this hitting too many too close to home??
filled the gas tank tonite then LM said " well that was more that 2 hours wages," 2/3 tank ina caravan. then we figured out that it takes 1 1/2 days wages for the fuel to get him to work per week and about the same for the taxes and health insurance. I think we are going deeply in the hole, especially since I made another medical bill by falling out the back door last week and getting severely bruised ribs and foot. Oh well maybe next time I can just hit my head on the way down and eliminate some bills.
anyone want to commission a quilt or wall hanging, I have 7 going right now, may as well start commissioning my winter projects while I am at it.
It seems gas is a real hindrance to many people today, and it will probably get worse. The gas people are calling for crude oil to rise above $300 before it is all over.
When it is all said and done, many people will move closer to jobs, and ride bikes and public transportation.
I don't know where it is all going but it looks to me if they tighten things up much more the whole thing will just fall apart!
In my humble opinion. It will get much worse before it gets better. I do not like to be a Negative type of person but the USA and Canada was based on "In God we Trust" There is very little Trust in God in USA or Canada any more.
Oil prices are going exactly where the Democrats want them. Up...way up. So what if rural America is forced into large cities? This is also where the Dems want us headed anyway. There they can tax us, regulate us and control every aspect of our lives much more so than if we are sprawled out across the landscape.
By the way, hurray for Bush lifting the executive ban on offshore drilling! Now the burden is on Congress. I love seeing this play out in an election year. Let's make them squirm!

Geez, RM. If you were to take 1 gallon (Imperial or U.S., I don't care which) of white paint and an equal amount of black paint, what would the resulting colour be? Or, let's say a 2:1 white/black ratio, or a 2:1 black/white ratio? You'd end up with three different shades of gray. Now think about how that could be applied, metaphorically speaking, to the political scene.

The thing I find fascinating, RM, is your big 'macho-man-wrapped-in-the-flag-carrying-my-automatic-machine-gun-because-I'm-an-American-and-it's-my-right-to-bear-arms-God-bless-America-goddamn-those-liberals-let's-drill-all-the-oil-we-can-and-burn-it-as-fast-as-we-can-because-there's-an-unlimited-supply-and-besides-global-warming-is-a-liberal-plot-to-control-the-world-and-force-everyone-to-become-gay' schtick.
If you constantly want to talk about 'we' (as in 'we conservatives'), I suggest that you should actually start putting the rubber on the road. Take out a membership in the Republican Party, volunteer in a local election campaign. Since you're such a big proponent of liberating people, go to your nearest recruiting office and get yourself over to Iraq. Or, if you're too chicken to do that, go volunteer with some international aid organisation. But instead, you listen to Rush, Sean, etc. and allow yourself to be pumped full of their rhetoric. You remind me of someone who is watching a fight and cheering on one fighter, but if his opponent were to turn in your direction and launch a blow at you, you'd be curling up in the fetal position, sucking your thumb, peeing your pants in fear, and crying for mama.
Nope, you gotta put something behind that big mouth. So far it's just a lot of chirping. I bet you've never even voted, have you?.

RM, how exactly do Democrats drive the price of a commodity which is bought and sold on Free market and controlled by large Conservative (mostly Republican) ownership?
You really ought to check out some of those other stations on that sat radio. Did you know you can even get Martha Stewart and Oprah?
(dang this site has been entertaining these last few days)
Grief, I didn't see the last 4 responses on this thread until this morning.
Steven, yes, I do vote. No, I don't need to engage in face to face combat in order to have the right to speak my piece any more than you do. I work 5 month a year for my gov...I ain't about to sign up with some international group yet.
Stan, I get plenty of exposure to liberal media. It's unavoidable It's everywhere, newspapers, news mags, COG...ha, internet...I run into Associated Press everywhere I go.
Peter said RM, <<how exactly do Democrats drive the price of a commodity which is bought and sold on Free market and controlled by large Conservative (mostly Republican) ownership?>>
Peter, they drive it up by interfering with the free market. They interfere via endless regulation, taxation and environmental controls. Ahem...you're pulling my leg again, right?
