Your point of concern (in the SB churches) as stated in the RE: Official CGCM site were exactly some of my husband's points when he was a pastor in the BGC...pretty much exactly. He went head-to-head with some of the head honchos. On the panel at one of the conferences, all the elderly guys were fighting for change and tolerance and becoming like the world to win the world. A young pastor of 22-23 years of age spoke up and said not to change for the sake of change, but to base ALL changes on the BIBLE-NOT on culture, especially a youth culture that needs the 'wisdom' of the elderly. He was very level headed...more than the older ones on the panel. Go figure? Where are all the churches headed???

We don't want to lose our youth, so we cater to them, drop our standards and adopt theirs. When all the time, the ones seeking God FOR REAL WANT something DIFFERENT. They respect and want a life sold out to Christ with the fruit of the Spirit displayed and holiness embraced. Jerry Bridges books on "PUrsuit of Holiness" and "The Practice of Godliness" are excellent books.

On a positive note...we have heard several sermons of Paul Washer's...he is a Southern Baptist, I believe. We really enjoyed his frankness, zeal, and fervor.

For His Glory,
Melanie's Mom
