It's all about money. Hmmmmmmm Wonder why a 3% -10% is preached a lot of places? Or why a collection plate is passed on Sunday morning? And by the way, a set salary is still about money.
I know of one church where the set salary was $30,000. which isn't a lot whole lot any more) But his family lived in a nice parsonage,(therefore no insurance or maintence) vehicle was furnished with gas for visiting the sick, etc. phone bill paid (except for personal long distances) with utilities. $30,000 seems a lot more that way. I agree money is at the bottom. How many religious authors give their books away? Or preachers successfully pastor with full time jobs? They can only be stretched so thin and one or the other suffers. I feel for them. calledoutPTL
No,no,no, calledout, I'm not talking about local churches and their pastors. I'm talking about the Bently's , Swaggerts, Hinns,Price, etc. these guys that just HAVE get themselves A TV Show , or else the whole world will go to hell. These guys are about money, ALL MONEY, salvation does get in there,,,, somewhere,,,, I watched a bit of Swaggert this AM since I was ready early, sell, sell, sell, tapes, Bibles, trips to everywhere. How many GIVE their books away? Very few. Why? Its all about having an autograph session at Borders or Barnes and Noble. Stardom, reglious glitter, is what it is.Same as Holdie preachers, that PRIDEFUL walk up those steps, up to the upper platform of POWER, thats what this is about, and money IS power.
No,no,no, calledout, I'm not talking about local churches and their pastors. --- Good, cause I agree with that.... I'm talking about the Bently's , Swaggerts, Hinns,Price, etc. these guys that just HAVE get themselves A TV Show , or else the whole world will go to hell.--- I agree that some of those think they are the answer and a lot of them are all about money, but not all of them. These guys are about money, ALL MONEY, salvation does get in there,,,, somewhere,,,, I watched a bit of Swaggert this AM since I was ready early, sell, sell, sell, tapes, Bibles, trips to everywhere. Why do you watch if it gets to you like that???? LOL I don't. How many GIVE their books away? Very few.---All authors usually have a price on there books no matter how sincere they are or not. How many times has a store gave you a bible? And nobody makes a person buy anything they offer. At least I don't. But wish I could afford to at times. LOL calledoutPTL
Maybe feet washing isn't a bad idea, can you imagine these tv preachers getting down in their tailored suits and poofed hair to wash some average joe's feet? Course maybe they would do it for a donation!
A small farmer has less expensive equipment, less expense then a big time farmer. But over-all makes less. Now when this small farmer goes bigger, he has to do something to get his farming done right? More expense, probably hasn't to borrow money, bigger equipment, etc. Right?? Now when someone presents the salvation on a larger scale then the local church does, it cost more. Right?
Now Billy Graham reached and touched more souls then most people, (and I would have no problem supporting him) his crusades did cost a lot of money too. He lifted Jesus up. (He also wouldn't allow any critism from his office about any other ministry. Wise person. A lot of ministries could learn from him.) calledoutPTL
CO, do you feel that you are being intellectually honest. If so, then please tell us what kinds of houses these big boys live in, and what kinds of cars they drive, all of course, being paid for they yuppies salary, all the way down to the poor widows's last farthing.
Now, before I let this televangelist money thing die, calledout, read todays Wichita Eagle, page 8a.
It says,, "Televanglist Under Tax Scrutiny" , its about,,,, none other,,,,, than,,,,, Kenneth Copeland!
Apparently his family, brother in law, son, and others have been reaping benifits to the max.
"Theres just to much money sloshing around and too much of it sloshing around with people with
overlapping affiliations and allegiances by either blood or friendships, there are red flags all
over the place," says a Miami Law Professor. She says "there are just to many relatives here".
Now, keep in mind calledout, Kenneth like some others, own and fly Cessna Citiation Jets. Sorry,
I see nothing wrong with the old standard Montezuma Blue Impala, or the Lonetree Caravan, dark green
of course.
But hey like I said, my job is to visit in my Dodge Dakota,,, white raise letters on Michlein tires
I might add.
<<<I don't mind them having a better house then I do. Why shouldn't they? calledoutPTL>>>
And so this is the kind of intellectual honesty you offer me, i.e, pretending to not understand my point, evading and side slipping with a very XEPesque quip.
I don't mind at all, preachers living in opulence, driving luxury cars, berating and brow beating those who don't suck up to their ministry, and I don't even mind them taking the last farthing from the destitute widow...as long as they don't do it in the name of Jesus!
Sorry Scott, my answer may not have been intelligent, but it was honest. Most of the TV preachers write books. If they live off of that, or have other means of support, why should I mind?
What about the tenth the priests got in the OT? They lived quite luxurious. And at times they misued the people as well. (They didn't get by with it in the long run.) But even then, God never told the Iseralites to quit giving a 10th. calledoutPTL

Nas, Heard one minister say the other evening, that if the ministries paid taxes, the government would leave them alone. What do you think? calledoutPTL
I suppose the IRS would probably make them as fair game as the rest of us. The religious groups will always be hasseled by someone. Do I think preachers should pay taxes? YES. It would take guys like "Rev." Al Sharpton
"Rev". Jesse Jackson out. These guys are no more a "Rev," than Jeffery Dalmer was. They only use that to push their racial agenda and avoid public scrutiny, it gives them "honor".
I agree that preachers should pay taxes. Your doing something good for the with your time and I'm sure it costs you something and you pay taxes. ( This a compliment. I admire and respect folks who do this.) Should ministries be taxed? No trick question, just wondering. I'm not sure if I think they should or not. I see it both ways. Constitution says no. calledoutPTL

Guys like "Rev." Al Sharpton "Rev". Jesse Jackson ... These guys are no more a "Rev," than ... They only use that to push their racial agenda and avoid public scrutiny, it gives them "honor". -no
No, if the people of God would teach the right message those that preach the wrong gospel would not be able to continue. People could see right through their message right into their heart. That it becomes a question of all about the money with people shows just how badly the message has been missed.
"What is false doctrine? - To deny or ignore the cross."
It IS all about money. The world functions around it...$ speaks. Unfortunately, it should not be the prominence in 'Christian' ministries. If we are truly serving God, we should TRUST Him to provide for our needs, not BEG for money.
I know of one pastor who decided not to take a tithe in his church anymore, not to accept a salary. He didn't beg for money, he just lived by faith...as God would lay it on people's hearts to help support him in his ministry. He said his yearly income actually increased this way...but often at the last minute God would provide for his needs.
It used to be that pastors got paid less than anyone in the congregation because it was considered a 'ministry'-sacrificial. Now a pastor can get paid upwards of $50,000/year for preparing a 10 minute sermon, tickling people's ears and visiting a few sick people now and then.
These Money beggars and hoarders are exposed in many videos like "Apostasy and Deception". We have many more titles but I don't remember them at this time. They all do it in the name of God but in the back they are laughing at all the money they made, throwing it up in the air...mocking God.
The Hinns and Bentley's in this world are deceiving many. They have a show and they are making a mockery out of God. Many have displaced their faith because they didn't have enough 'faith' to be healed...many have given their last dollars or made huge loans in promise of healings...to no avail. This is trickery...blasphemy!! THis is NOT of God!! At least not the God of the Bible...maybe the god of this world! They actually have people staging healings. They sometimes have people asking when you walk in what you are expecting of God tonite. Then through tiny microphones, they communicate to the front who has what ailment, etc.
Do some people actually experience healing...it's called psychosematic healing...based on emotional energy and certain chemicals in the brain. It doesn't last forever. If you want true healing...don't go for the spectacular...go to the elders...
Besides, God/Jesus is not there to go to only when we have a problem. He wants our hearts, commitment..not just a quick fix and see you later. He doesn't want to be used. That is why so many apparent salvations bear no fruit. People don't go fully surrendered...not my will but thine. THey have conditions. God doesn't work that way. He knows our hearts...He wants FULL SURRENDER...that's when the blessings flow.
