this is unblievable

>>TR, in a previous post you said that the COGCM teaches "The Gospel of Jesus Christ". In one of our "staff" meetings I told them that many times we came to church hungry to hear about Jesus Christ and him crucified. The one preacher looked at us and kinda laughed and said that after preaching about Jesus three or four times what would he say.<<

This statement by Bryon is quite amazing. Bryon this is almost unbelievable, but by now I shouldn't be shocked by anything.

I almost can't believe it. However there were so many things said to me that were unbelievable when I told them to other people that I can almost grasp it. And yet it is hard to imagine that even if he felt this way that he wouldn't take pains to keep these thoughts to himself.

Jesus IS the whole gospel. He is doctrine, he is love, he is repentance and the resurection to new life. He is all in all. There literally is never enough words that could be said to come to the end of talking about Him.
And I never get tired of hearing about Him.

We all love hearing about Jesus.

I'd like to hear you try to justify a preacher saying he don't preach about Jesus.

Don't try to bypass the real issue this time.

You want to hear me justify WHAT? Why would I do that? If you hear someone saying that they "don't preach Jesus" you reprove such a one too , ok?

Let's make sure our LIVES preach Jesus!

TR,that is just the way many H ministers feel....I have an uncle who was benched because he preached too much Jesus and too much on the love of God...The way to stay a good H minister is to pound away on the wonders of the OTVC and preach many doctrinal lessons...Believe me I know.I have sat through these sermons for many years.....I too go to church longing for the gospel of Jesus and leave empty aftre yet another tirade about the evils of the "world" and the blessins of being a part of the bride of Christ.....

If the blind lead the blind will not they both fall into the ditch???

Bryon,

I'm so glad our Father allowed you to come face-to-face with the incredible level of deception present in the leadership of your congregation. The fact that none of the other ministers present made any objection to such a statement indicates their equal involvement in that deception. Again, this is one of the end results of the OTVC teaching. The "church" becomes a "christ" and the "church" is now the object of worship. It is very sad, but true, and has been played-out in other denominations as well.

Unfortunately, this is way more that "wording it wrong". In the 25 years since I left the H church, I have attended a few services there. Even in weddings and funerals, the topic has been church worship every time. Not one of the sermons I have attended have mentioned HIM other than using his name at the end of their prayer. While I certainly do not believe that every individual or minister in their church embraces this deception, it is widespread.

I have attended various other church groups or denominations in those 25 years. I cannot imagine such a statement from any minister in those organizations. If it were to happen, those organizations would pull ministerial license and pastorships immediately. Of course none of those organizations would claim OTVC status.

Mark

Okay so we have a thread here going about how they do not preach the Gospel of Christ and one about SS class and teachers and how unintersting SS class is. I know I had to quit going because I couldn't stay quiet anymore while they constantly talked about how Exs, worldy and other mennos think, when they have totally no clue where anyone else is coming from and the saddest part was if I tried to tell them, I was wrong because I am both an ex and a worldly so how can I know anything. and yet there were some guys that If I talked in class would refer to what I said and commend it. but of course I have been an ex for 12 yrs plus one on repentance so I have no business talking, lucky me had no family that pounded into my head to be quiet in class and only one time did I have someone tell me I was supposed to be quiet in class and she is now divorced and running around. so I guess she don't count. But LM was firmly told we were not to talk in SS class. Actually I think they breathed a sigh of relief when we left cause they don't have to worry about me printing up sermons anymore.

But I am wondering here, we have enough folks to have our own church here and if we did, how would we agree that it should be? We all know what we don't want, but do we know what we do want? and we couldn't even agree on where we should all live to have this new church. besides who would we have to lead it. we have a couple preachers here. but could we agree with them? Or would we still deal with the stuff like there could be no members that have been D & R. Or guys with earrings or tattoos that they already have. Or maybe a couple of us is gonna talk too much or be too fat or go to church bare foot or drive a polka dotted car. and would we let the ones that have lots of H family talk about their past or their children or what struggle they are having.(I had someone tell me the other day, why can't you never mention H again, and leave it behind? would be nice, might have to move to China or Peru or someplace like that though, and disown all my H relatives, children and grandchildren) and what kind of head covering would we wear or not wear? and should we preach the gospel of all love, no repentance, or should we preach Hell fire and brimstone, and who gets to teach SS?

Does anyone have an answer? Have you really thought about it?

Personally I know Christ died for my sins and he forgives my sins and I know that he is doing stuff in my life that is boggling my mind.
Like today I was standing in a booth singing One set of Footprints to a woman that has a laser engraving business and she wants the song for her brother cause he just became a christian resently and he and his wife are singing together. and he has been thru a very dark hard life. and I am wondering just what in the world I am doing and God already knows....

Love and prayers, Locklady

Hey it's not always about the glorious church over here, we get alternating weeks of obedience and submission.

Well said. While I did not hear my Grandpa Loewen preach very often - I know where his heart was because he lived his faith in front of all of man. And that faith was bound up TIGHT in Jesus. I have become convinced that it was actually circumstance that kept my Grandpa from being expelled earlier than he was. And that circumstance was that he was a traveling minister for most of his years of preaching. So he was here - there - US - Canada - preaching God's LOVE and salvation - and Christ's awesome work in our lives - and the Holy Spirit living and guiding us. It was when he was no longer traveling that he got into trouble. Coincidence? I think not.

I asked in another thread and still am wondering...what's the difference between all these terms?:

benched
expelled
excommunication

I know Grandpa was expelled -not just benched. He was to be shunned by his family and wife. I know my dad refers to himself as either expelled OR excommunicated. What's the diff guys??

I have always known expelled and excommunicated to be the same thing while being benched (or silenced) meant that they were no longer allowed to preach.

Thanks Kimma. So benching is a 'gag order'. Got it.
