How do we keep a song in our heart when we meet with disappointment in our lives?
How do I?,,I just keep on trusting Jesus to pull me through and know that He never leaves me. It makes the journey through disappointments easier. There will always be trials and disappointments in this life.
Romans 8
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord
Does praise from a heavy heart bring as much glory to God as joyous praise--or more?
I think praise is praise if we trust in Christ no matter what,, we are praising Him. The sad or happy condition of our heart doesn't matter it's the amount of trust we have in Him.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
How do we determine what kind of music is proper in our worship services?
There is a story in the Bible about David and his wife Michal,,when David was bringing the Ark of the covenant to the city of David, he was so excited that he danced nearly naked. When Michal judged him for it and complained to him about it and she said "what must the people think" (paraphrasing) he was appalled at her for judging his heart. Michal never had children because from that day forward David would never sleep with her again she was banished from his house.
2 Samuel 6
14And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
16And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
20Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovered himself!
21And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
I think this story is an example of judging others about how they worship.
I think music is only part of worship anyway, true worship is obedience to God and that is on a very individual basis.
How do we determine what kind of music is proper in our worship services?
I feel compelled to say that I have a choice of how I like to worship through music. My choice is with instruments and praise songs like the ones you see me post, (not the rock roll)..That is how the Lord speaks to me through music.
I am not interested in saying that any other way is wrong or comparing them to the way we do it and saying that "we do it right or best"..So we can chose worship services that we like without fear, because it's how God speaks to us individually on it that matters, in other words it's between me and God.
