I know there have been threads down this line before ~ but i have been thinking some more on it...
I was wondering where is the salvation in THINGS? I heard of a cuzin of mine that was accepted back into the H church - all to the tune of him being willing to put his house up for sale?! It is a fairly big house and yet, no more outstanding than some of the higher-power's-that-be houses.... The main issue was the skylight and high ceilings...
How do the preachers ever decide what is acceptable or not? is it a jealousy or competition issue? - that they hadn't thought of that idea of an added touch to a house before the other brother?
So if i sell my house and live in a more humble house than my preacher it is gonna pass by God too some day? Like, WHY? How is this justified as Biblical? Surely we can have THINGS in our house then too, that are beyond the "right" standards too? When and where does this all make a difference in when we stand before God? i just cannot get my head around it...

To borrow shamelessly from Scott, the whole thing is understandable once you realize that "willingness" is on the level of the sacred among the H. The results of holding this principle as sacred range from the grossly shallow, yet relatively harmless to painful atrocities like the avoidance. It's as neccessary to group-think as oxygen is to respiration. Ya gotta have somethin to trump justice and other lesser principles, right? Now, you just need to stop trying to wrap your head around their explanations of this stuff and become willing to accept them. You need to be bold like the members of the Custard Cult who wear a plastic spoon in their right breast pocket to display to each other their willingness to eat The Chosen Food at any time..... You get the idea.
About the skylight issue ... it's obvious. They don't want the light that God created shining in your home - its supposed to be the 'light of the brethren.'
**And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.**
The more I read about the idiocy of the h church and all its rulings the more astonished I become. Not at all the rules, changes in rules, or abuse of power and manipulation. That's something one takes for granted and can even accept of the h church. Why would one expect any different?
Where my understanding fails me is that people keep on putting up with the manipulation and control. Not only are they putting up with it they're giving in to it and actively participating in the ruination of their families. Personally I've lost my patience with h church members. If that's how they want to be treated they don't have my sympathy anymore.
They all have the freedom to walk away and remove themselves from the cult but they're choosing to stay in. So they can jolly well put up with the crap they're going to be fed.
Just heard last night again how it is SO important to just be "willing for anything" and how if we are not, we will find ourselves on the left hand side. This concept has bothered me for a while. I can understand the need of doing what we understand God to be asking or directing, but doesn't He give a "want to" to do what He asks? And why do I have to be willing for something He isn't asking?
>>it is SO important to just be "willing for anything"<<
Would that include drinking cyanide-laced kool-aid in the jungles of South America? I mean, where does this foolishness stop?
There is no way God expects people to behave like an abused little puppy that rolls over onto its back, exposes its underbelly and pees on the floor every time you approach it.
