A story about co-operation and friendship between Mennonites and Muslims will be told in Steinbach Wednesday. Professor John Sharp from Hesston, Kansas will share his research into the great trek in 1880 where 600 Mennonites moved east from Russia into Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. He says in one of the villages where the Mennonites settled, Muslims invited the Mennonites to use their mosque on Sundays for church services. Sharp wonders whether modern day Mennonites would do the same for their Muslim neighbors. He will share that story and others Wednesday evening at Mennonite Heritage Village. He will also give the presentation at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg Tuesday evening.
