12* For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
So what is the word of God? THe Word, is the bible when it "comes alive" or "quickened" in our heart
Ps 119:93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
Ps 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
your word has come alive
your word has touched my heart
your word is as sharp
as any earthly knife
The word "quick" means "alive" and this is an important thing to keep in mind,

We can safely put our faith in the words found in the scripture when they have been made alive in our heart.

1) active
Means it is active or useful. In working you sometimes need a tool or machine, lately we needed to plane off about a mile of dirt road to level it out and fill the holes to put in a road to the back acreage of the farm
I wanted to use a 70 horse power small tractor, which would have done the job in several weeks, but my son talked me into hiring a contractor with a 450 horsepower tractor, he got it done in less than 4 hours!
His tractor was "powerful" it was "effectual" useful, and the right tool for the job!
We can trust that the Lord will give us power, when we tap it into His word for direction!
Now the word "sharper" is an interesting thing;
Being as how in our house to prepare food, the simple job of "cutting" the potatoes or roast, for the meal can be a tedious job, for the family is big, thus the preparations are tedious.
we have thus perfect the art of potato cutting by getting a commercial potato slicer (hand operated)
BUt the meat is another story, and if the knife is not sharp it is tedious! In fact it is no fun!
I tend to touch it up every few slices because I like power steering!
SO with the Word, we can run our lives our own way if we want but "it ain't no fun"! Or we can tap into the Word and do our surrender to the "knife" and allow God His way and it is not too bad!
So we read the word, and allow it to penetrate into our hearts into the true motives.
