2008 is almost gone (thank God) so it's time to consider how to approach 2009! Anyone intending to make changes for 2009 beyond the usual quit smoking, lose weight cliches?
My resolutions (or at least good intents):
1. Find a worship group (church) that lives a Christian life without uniform dress, Popes, Bishops, incense, finery, megachurches, cultism, or wanting to throw me out after they find out I've been divorced and remarried.
2. Pay cash for everything, refuse to get back on the "consumerist" band wagon.
3. Vote for anyone but a Democrat or Republican.
4. Discover some new music (like I did yesterday when I ran across Levon Helm's Poor Dirt Farmer)
5. Fix the drivers door on my pickup after 6 months of sliding across the seat to get in and out!

Brent I guess I am happy, so I have few "resolves" for the year, so I thought i would touch on yours.
1. the 'church' Well, since leaving the H, church has become less of a center piece of our lives, and we have found a place to worship as a family that doest continually "harp" on tithings, how great the church is, but simply leaves us alone and loves us when we rise to the chalange of wanting to be loved. I'll probably stay there another year.
2. Cash- I for the most part already live in a depression, having grown up in carters years of misery. I seldom if ever go into debt unless it is for a deal that has a wonderful income stream potential, that is double the cost. I got "caught" last year in a pinch and used the credit card to get out of it. It was a 2.99 teaser rate, and the last cheap month is Janurary. I have two more payments to make to get out of the pinch, however the need was for an income property that needed fixed when I bought it 15 years ago. We kept cobbling the sewer. It finally was costing us a rooter rooter a couple of times a week and either needed replaced of the property shut down. So we "borrowed".
I haven't bought a decent car for almost 15 years, and now it is shot. It clunks, the engine uses oil, the air conditioner doesn't work, and there is no radio! (remember we used to be H). I hope (resolve?)to get "one more year" out of it though!
I wouldn't mind getting a nice ranch style house (with no steps) a shop, and animal barns, on at least 10 acres, and admit I have been looking for the "deal of the century". But I don't have any money so It will have to have 100% financing and a killer deal to boot.
Several of my kids are getting junky houses this year, since it is time to move out of "fathers house". One of them has an accepted offer on two houses on one lot and it is real cheap. I want to be able to be around when he fixes it up.
3. Voting- In my mind, voting for the lesser of 2 evils, is still voting for evil. I chose the position of the sovereign along with sovereign immunity that goes with it. Even if the civil servants jail me for taking that position as the h did and does to it's sovereign members worshiping with them without prejudice.
In my mind, the "mark of the beast" is a coming, and it will test people to see if they will walk in sovereign immunity and be willing to go hungry and lose health and wealth rather than cave to demands of the political civil strand of "holdemanism", since the h church is simply an extension of the fascist system of more government.
So I "vote" to not vote, and let the pigs have their "heaven on earth" without my consent.
4. Music, I have enjoyed the music that has been posted, and have felt a jealousy pang, since I have no inclination in music. I actually prefer quietness, and don't often listen to music. I guess it simply doesn't matter to me about music.
5.ahh! the door! it is broken on the big car passenger car! I "resolve" to fix it! (maybe)
I guess I don't put much stock in changing just because another year has rolled over on the calendar.
I wanted to get back to our small group and I will do that, I miss them.
Not sure about 'regular church' though.
I can't think of anything new to do, I should just get back to what I felt good about in the past and keep it up for the future.
I'm thinking about going on a women's retreat. I want to go alone and with a group I have never met before.

Paris, the ladies of our church have a womens retreat in McCall in the fall. My wife has gone both times in the last 2 years, and really loves it, and has made some life time friends there. If you need a ride from the Boise airport, we can fix you up!
