There goes the neighborhood

Well, it seems to be official. The holdies are moving in to our town. We've starting seeing "our people" here for a while but I heard today that two families have moved.

Sheesh, haven't been in the vicinity of a holdie for over twenty years....maybe I better invite them over for a beer.

Lark: Perhaps that's exactly what Peter was planning to do. You could do both at the same time, you know.

Steven.. a person COULD... BUT unfortunately a beer in hand can at times be a detriment to the person receiving the message.

How many of you on this forum would deliberately offend a Muslem or a Catholic to their face if they haven't done or said anything offensive to you? The key word is NOT DONE ANYTHING TO YOU. I'M TALKING ABOUT INDIVIDUALS AND NOT THEIR CHURCH. Capitalized for emphazes only.calledoutPTL

Question for the h, please answer honestly. Would you deliberately offend a Muslem or Catholic if they haven't done anything to you? Again, I'm talking about individuals and not a church organization. calledoutPTL

Well I probably wouldn't order a ham sandwich if I was having lunch with an arab, which I do from time to time.

I've done both, just not at the same time. I don't think it would actually bother most of them but I'm not gonna take a chance at offending a customer. It's interesting to visit with people and get a glimps of their worldview.

TM.. of course you know how this goes?... Do you hold avoidance on the ex's? Aren't you worried about offending them? If not, why would there be a difference?

What about in your own home? Or what about if the preachers are there? Or what about if there are other ex'es present?

Lark. I'm not gonna start a huge discussion on the avoidance, that horse has been dragged around the block way to many times. We all know that it unpleasant and I would avoid creating a situation with a lot of tension.

" We all know that it unpleasant " (avoidance)

Then why do you do it? You know its unscriptual, in the manner the church does it, you refuse to shake
hands with the expelled, you are totally out of line with the Bible on this.

I have never refused to shake hand with anybody. I might not offer mine first. I must be a bad Holdie.

Don't be so hard on yourself, TM. You're not a bad Holdi, you're just a Holdi with bad manners.

Re: There goes the neighborhood

Hey give TM a break for being honest! He said he wasn't a hard mainliner so he said. If I wore long pants to a h church service, it would because they are warmer and more comfortable and not trying to offend them, but for some it would be offensive.

But most of the people on the forum weren't expelled for a scripture reason so that is an offense when the avoidance is held whether the h understands that or not. If I make comments that your salvation is based on a church or trying to live by laws and men's traditions can be just as offensive because both are attacking a man's soul. (That is what hurts.) calledoutPTL
