2nd Evening:
Introduction:
Speaker noted that there is no place between Heaven and Hell, we will all go to one or the other. Emphasized that we need to make our calling & election sure.
Evangelist 2:
Text:
Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Mark 9:23-29
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Psalms 78:41
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Message Summary:
Carries on into what it means to be translated and how we can tap into the power of God. This power is available, it's not our power, it is, however, our responsibility to live it. He has told us that He has the power and grace we need to be victorious. We are often fearful that God will ask of us something we don't want to accept, so we draw back, or turn back like the children of Israel. Faith is action, when we seek God as Jacob did, when he wrestled with the angel all night, He will give us that power, for He has promised power to those that seek it. Gave an experience of one who justified his position in life by fruits in others that were not always godly. He did not find peace until he was able to accept that he needed to heed what God had for him, regardless of where others were at in life. If we lay down our self-will, God can then lead us.
