Speaker noted a phrase in one of the opening hymns that said teach me to live to die. This is why we're attending these meetings.
Evangelist 1:
Text:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Philippians 2:5-8
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Message Summary:
John 3:16 is the golden text of the Bible. Our salvation hinges on us believing, accepting, and submitting ourselves to this passage.
God has two purposes in the law, the first was to define sin. Paul understood this clearly. The second purpose was to point to Jesus as the only hope of our salvation. Today we need the first purpose of the law. We need to see ourselves as sinners. The law condemns even those that refuse to look to the One it reveals.
God separated part of Himself and gave Christ the Son to the world. Why? Because He wanted to save us. How was the holy Law of God to be satisfied without breaking it? The answer is Christ, He fulfilled the Law.
The first Adam symbolizes Christ in that he voluntarily came down to her sinful level. Christ also came down to our level. We know He did not sin, but He became one with us. He didn't hold on to His throne to prove His glory to others. Immediately after His baptism, He was led in to the wilderness and experienced our temptations. It is the faith of the speaker that Jesus experienced every temptation man has or will ever encounter. The lust of the flesh, the pride of life, the lust of the eye were all there. But despite all that, the Law could not condemn Jesus.
Many people say they have accepted Christ, but they have not accepted him according to the Word of God.
Evangelist 2:
Notes that often we come to Christ holding up our works and deeds, wondered what the Lord must think of such when he has paid such a great price for us.

Great services! It seems though that there is a strange lack of testimony of the greatness of the "holy mother"s influence in the salvation of her converts, are you not catching it because they are not preaching it, or are they preaching it and you are just failing to report it?
Scott, is a little sentiment that bad or even dishonorable?
>>Many people say they have accepted Christ, but they have not accepted him according to the Word of God.<
<br>
And who, exactly, are those people who HAVE accepted Him according to the Word of God? Not the Holdemans with their unscriptural 'celestial flesh' Jesus, surely???
(Incidentally, isn't Christ Himself the Logos, or Word, of God?)
Give them a little more time Fred. I have heard so many " this is the one true church and the only place you can be saved listen and obey your staff for they are chosen of God to lead you and don't question the authority of the church and how could 20000 people be wrong and we are the only ones that follow the WHOLE bible" sermons that I could preach one myself. But please carry on TR. don't let us infidels discourage you.
Did they quote John 3:16 as it is in the Bible, or as they believe? The Bible says those who do not believe will "perish," but they continue to read it "will have eternal life in hell"
"Many people say they have accepted Christ, but they have not accepted him according to the Word of God."
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Can you separate Christ, God, the Word?
Why do we have to always beat down another's faith to build ours up?
Fellow Holdemans, why are we so threatened by the fact that John Lutheran, John Baptist, John Catholic, etc. are all Christians as well?
Our arrogance, our judgements, our elitist mentality will buy us all a one way ticket to hell... PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!!!!
