Why Worship the Church?

Why Worship the Church?

Studying my Bible I find many places where Christ loves the church. He would like a perfect church.
Eph 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
However it is not always that way.

However studying the Bible we find that the church is not perfect.

1Co 11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
3Jo 1:9 ¶ I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
3Jo 1:10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

Gods Church the way I understand has been around since Christ rose from the Dead. I am no historian but correct me if I am wrong if it has been 2009 years since his birth it would be 1979 years since his death give or take 3 or 5 years. Why would some people be interested in celebrating 150 years of a Church?? Is it a Church life they are celebrating or a Man??

I have heard some criticize the people celebrating The Mother of Jesus. To me that is soo much more scriptural When you think of Luke verses.
41b
Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Do we want to serve Christ, or serve a Church??

"The church is the people of God, the body and the bride of Christ, and the temple of the Holy Spirit. The one, universal church is a transnational, transcultural, transdenominational, and multi-ethnic family of the household of faith. In the widest sense, the church includes all the redeemed of all ages, being the one body of Christ extended througout time as well as space. Here in the world, the church becomes visible in all local congregations that meet to do together the things that according to Scripture the church does"

Hi Herman...happy.gif

Last week I heard such a sermon on the greatness of the church that if it weren't for a couple non members and myself. I'm sure the heavens would have opened up right there and taken the congregation to glory land right then and there. I heard a complete worship of the exalted status of themselves and the high standard they hold above all the "easier way" churches. It was amazing, do you think they know how to spell I-D-O-L-A-T-R-Y?

An easier way toward salvation than the law of the thing? Sure; His yoke is easy and His burden is light! How easy it is to get tangled up in the religious idea that salvation must somehow be hard to bear up under.

Salvation is a thing of restoration; this requires diligence to He who is within the born again believer but it is not a hard issue. There are no heavy burdens to bear. Do not place a heavy burden on the new believers the Apostle Paul said; just tell them to refrain from drinking the blood of things strangled and not to eat the meat of those things offered in sacrifices. That may simply have been good advice rather than the first and second conference article of sorts.

Those who would make it hard simply do not understand what this glorious salvation is all about!

It's a hard row to hoe when men love a church organization and her precepts rather than the Person of Christ Jesus! Even here men and women can get willing for this type thing at which point the resistance dies and a peace of mind comes. This peace can be understood for at the end of resistance there is a certain peace, while the real peace of the Prince of Peace passes all understanding! If our peace can be understood it's not the real article.

Indeed there is one Master and we do not follow after Him by idolizing an organization along with the precepts and traditions of it.

By one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, this has nothing to do with water. Water baptism is a very public profession of faith in that our sins are washed away. One thing water baptism is not and that is the entry into the Spiritual body of Christ. 1Cor.12:13

How did we miss these truths? Missing these truth easily allows for the worship of the secondary thing rather than only the primary thing. Men worship the secondary thing i.e. the church when the intensity toward Christ himself is weak. The evidence is among those who worship the secondary thing; we need to be more God-conscious or we need to be more Christ conscious, this is quite a common thing to hear.

this morning we had a message from a holdie peacher who had been to wichita but the message he heard was that as leaders they needed learn to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and their nieghbor as them self. they needed to take help from the lay man to reach this end. some don't feel the need of the rest of us but prise be to God there are some with a broken and concrite spirit.
