Kansans

On Friday, Kansas passed a bill to cut a whole bunch funding that goes to people who have disabilities. In my agency it alone, their budget cut will affect us to the tune of at least $750,000. This is money that gets disbursed to people with disabilities and the services that they can receive. I don't know how other agency are being affected BUT if it is anything like ours, it will not be pretty. This funding cut affects not just one person but will affect way more because of the trickle down affect. Many parents of children with disabilities can only go to work if they have someone who can provide care for their child. The average person will not care for a child with a severe disability. So by cutting the funding for one child, it will affect the childs care provider, and the family due to losing jobs because of no child care. Which in turn, makes the family turn to other government funding for their total financial support.

We see here in Wichita, the public schools building schools, brand new gyms and track fields while the least of our community will end up going without.

IF anyone on here lives here in Kansas, PLEASE call Governor Mark Parkinson today and tell him to vote no on the OMNIBUS Bill and that you do not want the people who are the most vulnerable to feel the brundt of the tax cuts.

Only families that have children with these problems really understand. The respite that these organizations give to some parents may prevent some child abuse of the severly handicaped children, due to the frustration and despair. The long-time effect of educating these children, helping the parents find counseling, is well worth it. Some of these children will be able to have some kind of job when they get older thus saving tax-payers money. I will call and pray that all of you Kansans will call. calledoutPTL
