A mutual friend sent me a copy (not his own - he bought an extra copy for me!) and I've now read it.

Reading the book brought back a lot of memories for me as well as showing a side of people that I knew (I could figure out who a lot of the unnamed players in the book were based on my knowledge of Holdeman genaology) and always suspected had a darker side, but could never put my finger on it.

I remember your parents a bit and remember when your mom died in the car accident. You know, I recall that there was something unspoken about her death that I found a bit puzzling. (I was about 10 years old when it happened, I think). I think I must have picked up on the fact that since she was 'on repentance' her eternal salvation, in the mind of the Holdemans, was unsure at best.

I somehow am not surprised to hear how your dad was treated. The endless nitpicking on people like him is what the Holdemans do best and it's a real shame that the minister (his brother-in-law) treated him so cruelly after all he experienced in his life.

Last, but not least, I really felt badly to hear of your own experiences at the hands of the cult and its members. You've demonstrated real strength and resilience by managing to leave and get on successfully in your life.

Thank-you for writing the book. While I've heard similar stories, this is the first one of its kind that I've read by someone who left the Holdeman cult. That there are more out there I have no doubt. Perhaps others will read your story and gather strength when they recognise the similarities with their own.

hello Steven.. thank you for those words. i have had so much postive feedback from many many people many of which do not even know of this H group type of people.
i am always amazed at the level of stupidity they continue to display.. regardless there are some i love yet just not their belief system. carol read my book and was so moved by it .. she thought the whole Ben Isaac family should buy it and maybe they would learn something. i told her i was not going to make anyone buy my book who did not want to.

i have a friend who wants to make a web page for my book maybe add some pictures and also for my next book.making it avaiable to download..ect..tecnology i am just learning about..!!
we are off to the Mountians for some camping this weekend.
