| Just in ase some of you are around the Kansas area... I understand there are supposed to be meteor showers tonight and tomorrow night, with the best viewing early this morning between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. |

Thanks for the reminder, Lark. I had heard about this but didn't realize the best time was so early in the morning. Did anyone get up to view? |

Stan I watched for about 15 minutes or so and saw about 3 meteors. It's also on again tonight. |

Larks children are spending a week with us. We stayed up and watched them for a little while. The most one of us saw was 16. Each of us saw some. Awesome. The milkyway was simply awesome as well. We thought of you Stan as well as Brent and Scott. calledoutPTL |

I went to pick up my daughter at her friends house about 10:30 last night and she was all excited about all the "shooting stars" they had been seeing while laying on their backs on the trampoline. She was frustrated at her friend because she couldnt convince her they were just rocks from the asteroid belt falling into our atmosphere, rather than stars dying and falling out of the sky. Her friend is a star athlete, but has no interest in science, obviously. Her friend does not want these things explained - she just wants to live in the fantasy of what she thinks nature should be.
I told my daughter about the person in Newton's day who accused him of unraveling the rainbow. He wanted to experience the magic of the rainbow, and not be distracted by the mechanical laws of light. Some people don't want things explained, they just want to experience and dream.

Ah, yes, Greensburg's own, Three Amigos!
The "skimmers" were the best part of the entry, leaving a long trail behind them ,sometimes quite colorful. |
