"The unexamined life is not worth living - Socrates" (From Scott)

Have you examined your life?

What measure did you use?

Are you satisfied with the results?

How did you determine that the examination was complete?

I saw that quote tattooed on a man's forearm once. It was written in Greek and looked really cool. I really liked it. He was a great guy, and it was his motto to live by. I wish I had thought of if first. I tempted to put it on mine but I hate to be a follower. I really like a discreet tattoo, especially on a woman's leg. LOL Great opportunity to examine the quote, its contents, and the leg.

Does one ever "complete" the examination of one'self as long as there is life?

Carolyn, I don't believe an examination should ever be final. You examine and then reexamine until your life is done. Our situations around us are constantly changing. New evidence to be evaluated is coming at us constantly. We need to try to leave our old prejedices at the door when evaluating it.

Been traveling in Europe the last 10 days... certainly makes one question whether American priorities are the right ones. I agree with Stan that examination of our life should never be complete, and therefore also, examination of our country's overall goals/attitudes. I am in a state of re-thinking "life"... including our comforts, politics, selfish attitudes, right-wing railings, spiritual laxity, narrow-mindedness, etc.

By invitation, will be attending a small house church Sunday in Francavilla Italy (on the Adriatic Sea). Likely, this will be more Biblical then the organized church of today. However, I admit the cathedrals of the RC church are inspiring and causes one to appreciate society's reverence of God. God notices this as much as He sees any American evangelical slush. God is far bigger then what many cultures fence Him into.

We are at lovely hotel style B&B ("Punta De L'esta" if you have interest to goggle) and regrettable, they are closing for the season today so we will move to another across the street. Will have breakfast in an hour... and I need to examine my consumption of very tasty Italian carbs...
