Protect your children and Grandchildren!

I checked out my Niece's area in the small town of Mayfield Ohio and there were 27 registered!
What about all of those who are NOT registered?

Free National Registry to check out your area,

some of you will be absolutely amazed.

Over 2,000 children are reported missing every day.

The chance that your child will become a victim of a sex offender is 1 in 3 for girls & 1 in 6
for boys.

Publishing IDs of sex offenders is not all bad. However, I know of some situations that are somewhat unfair. I used to work with a man listed on the state website as a sex offender. When I asked him about it, he told me his side of the story. He freely admitted to having consensual sex with a seventeen year old on his eighteenth birthday. The father of the girl saw his chance and reported him. Lo and behold, he is now a sex offender when the day before that he was a normal guy. Why should he be saddled with that label? BTW, the girl gets off scott free.

I heartily agree with your statment and believe that the young man you spoke of....should not even
have that label! That is just another example of the lack of common sense among our lawmakers.

You raise an interesting question...of just how many of these sex offenders listed are because of
only having relations with a juvenile.

If I find the percentage, I will post it.

predators?

We all know that adult men or women who abuse and violate young children should not share the same air-breathing-space that we enjoy.

We have approximately 15 in our local area called sex offenders.

Now, where could or where should a line be drawn on these matters where it not actually violate someone labeled the sex offender?

Can the law possibly do this and be fair? I think that is how limited the law is. They try.

Can you imagine the eighteen year old boy trying to get past this label for a good life with a good job etc? People get scared.

Regarding juvenile Offenders

October 25 2009, 3:33 PM

Some research:

"Controversial Sex Offender Law Makes Challenges for States"

"As the July 2009 deadline approaches, federal uniformity in sex offender laws requirements remain unfulfilled. The major obstacles that states face are the cost of implementing the program, the retroactive nature of the Adam Walsh Act, problems with posting juvenile offenders and over-generalization of sex offenses."

RE: the last part of this legislation I hope it is the main reason for the hold off.

The Adam Walsh Act intends to register convicted sexual offenders, 14 and older, who have committed the most violent sexual abuses, said California Congressman Ken Calvert, a Republican fr
om Riverside."

RE: However, it also includes a 11 year old touching anothers genitals...These people cannot
see the forest for the trees, it seems

"The detectives disagree on whether the registry should include juveniles, who commit 17 percent of all sex offenses and about a third of all sex offenses against children."

RE: In my opinion it should NOT include juveniles who simply had sex with another consensual
teen...period

This raises the question...what ages are the "one third children"...and the act took place
under what conditions...consensual or violent? I am NOT referring to seduced molestation either
which happens frequently among families members with small and older children. This should
be in the registry.

Enough!

I searched but found nothing that even resembled our predator law zips in the US. Must be because the Canada court records are not open like in the US.

Sorry...
The above was the closest I could come to finding anything.

PS: I only have my Holdeman daughter's zip in Manitoba Canada ROJITO

OS: Interesting post. The Economist had an article on this sort of issue recently

http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=14164614

I don't want anyone to think that I am advocating for relaxing the rules on child predators. At the same time, some of the laws are unrealistically harsh (e.g. consensual oral sex between a married couple was a sexual offense in Georgia up until the last 10 years or so) and breaking them does not make the offender a risk to abuse minors.

But for the pervs out there who have actually committed predatory and abusive offenses, by all means, the public should know about them.
