I am reading right this second some of John Suler's writings on cyberspace psychology, and he's talking about The Palace, and you seem to know so much about net esoterica I am SURE you know about this stuff. I don't; I've heard of avatars and read a couple of definitions, but somehow reading his explanation of The Palace opened my head about possibilities.
I got this idea, not knowing enough to recognize its impossibility, but just enough to be able to REALLY annoy you with it, about us having a HOUSE here like The Palace, and we could take avatars (registered ppl could, anyway) and DO THINGS in the house, like shine the sink and organize the garage, and there would be kid and DH avatars that could mess it up and we'd clean it up, and instead of talking about it all, or in addition to it, we'd actually see our little characters doing things. It would be completely idiotic if that's all we did, of course, but I think it could be a great tool to help us overcome our stalls. I am working via net and phone with my DS in RL who has hoardy probs that I had no idea of, and they are extreme and fascinating and well, it is very difficult for her to part with things like empty tissue boxes and bottle caps (does 15 empty dental floss boxes waiting for a purpose give you the picture???)--so I was thinking that someone like my DS could have an avatar that could THROW CYBERTHINGS AWAY and that would help the person who's got those problems start to deal with it. Like a rehearsal for RL purging.
I KNOW this is an insane idea, but I also know I get completely stalled out, and I find the idea of picking up a cyber sponge and poaching the Script-avatar's luxury cleaning pomade (not really stealing it, just involuntarily sharing...
) and using it to do a cyber swipe around the fantasy kitchen--well, it might get me off my all-too-real duff, and it would be fun, besides.
Do you think this is doable in this lifetime, if not here, then somewhere? What do you think of the idea generally? Is there any aspect of it that we could do? I don't know why I am so excited about it; maybe because it makes it all seem like such FUN, and we use some right now, don't you know. So I will post this without reconsidering, which I probably should do, but maybe somebody else will like the idea. It FEELS positive, at least to me!
