Since the 8th inch adapter mics are never that high of quality, I picked up an XLR adapter from bhphoto.com. From there, you can connect any high quality mic. I use an audio-technica shotgun mic. XLR adapters are kinda pricey, but if you have the means....just remember, a really good mic with an XLR cable can get expensive too.
