One night I was asleep in a house I used to live in located at 155 S. Sixth Street in Quenemo, Kansas. I got this weird feeling that someone was watching me, so I rolled over onto my back and looked around the room. What I saw was something that would influence my interest for years to come. There was an old lady standing by my wall. I blinked, thinking that I was just dreaming, but she was still there when my eyes reopened. This totally freaked me out, but I eventually went back to sleep. The next day, I went over to my neighbor's house to tell her about the experience that I had the previous night. She told me that the lady was a friend of her's and her name was Elsie Patterson. And one day in 1989, there was an "old lady" party going on just down the street from her house. My neighbor's name was Fern Lemmons. Fern told me that she was wondering where Elsie was at, so she went over to her house looking for her. When she knocked on the door, nobody answered, so she let herself in. She yelled Elsie's name really loud, but there was no response. So, she started walking around the house. When she approached the dining room, she smelled applesauce cooking on the kitchen. Fern walked into the dining room and found Elsie sitting in the rocking chair, and she was dead, too. So, after Fern told me this, I have been fascinated with ghosts and the paranormal.
