My family and I lived in our house for 21 years. When I was 16 my father passed away. Ever since then I felt like he was there watching me. He used to repair electronics and he had a workshop in the basement. I never liked to go down there as a kid because it creeped me out. As I got older it didn't bother me as much. After he died I didn't like going down there because it was just the way he had left it. Before I start my story so you should all know. When I was younger my dad used to like to scare me but it was all in good fun and afterwards we'd laugh about it.
One summer night when I was 19 I was home alone in the living room and on the phone talking to a friend when all of a sudden I heard a slow creaking noise. I looked downstairs in the rec room towards the basement and saw the door was slowly opening. Then I noticed a light on, figuring my mother or sister left the light on I went downstairs on the phone and went to turn the light off. It was a light with a cord that you pull down to turn the light on or off. I clicked the light off and went to go back upstairs. When I reached the top of the stairs I heard a click turned and the light was on again. I turned it off again and heard a fuzzy noise coming through the receiver of the phone. I asked my friend if they were still there they said yes but wondered what the noise was. I changed the channel on the phone and clear as day I heard in a man's voice...BOO! At that moment all of the lights in the basement went off and the door slammed shut. My friend screamed and I was petrified. I started to panic as I ran up the stairs to the door. As I reached the top of the stairs the lights went back on and I heard a CD player in my dad's workshop click on. And the song "Father and Son" by Cat Stevens started to play. When I was young he used to play that song when I couldn't sleep or had a bad dream and I would fall right asleep. I instantly knew that this whole occurence was my dad and when he saw how scared I got he played that song to make me feel better. I listened to the whole song and went back upstairs.
