I am currently away on business and I am staying in a hotel. I’ve been here for three weeks and this is the second room I have been in since the beginning of my stay. The first room I was given was Room 252. I requested a different room because weird things were going on in my first room. I have to connect to a lab-top for a good 4 hours in the day and I have business meetings for the other 4 so I hooked it up when I first got here and walked out of the room. I went to get some ice and when I came back my Microsoft Word was open and there was a sentence on there. It said, “This is my room you don’t belong here!” I shrugged it off and deleted the message. Not thinking anything of it I unpacked and then went on my first meeting of the trip. A couple hours later I went to the hotel and opened the door. When I walked in the room, the bed was unmade. The comforter and other blankets were thrown off the bed and there was a bathroom towel on the mirror. I thought it was my fellow colleges playing a joke on me. But they were all in the meeting with me and I have the only key card. And to make everything a tad bit worse. All of the stuff I unpacked was taken out of the drawers and the closet and placed folded on the unmade bed. I shrugged it off and put my clothes away again and got ready for my evening. I walked out of the room and realized I forgot my wallet. I was gone for 2 minutes when I got back in the room 2 chairs were stacked on the table. My lab-top was on the ground and again all my stuff was folded and placed neatly on the bed. I grabbed my wallet and ran from the room. I got back to my room a little after midnight and came into the room and saw the chairs were moved to the corner of the room and my lab-top was back on the table. My clothes were still folded on the bed, I was too tired to care at that point I moved it all and went to sleep. Well I was woken up at 2:30 the next morning by a crash. I sprang up in bed to no blankets on me or the bed and a chair had been thrown across the room. I started getting nervous. It was freezing in my room I pulled the blankets on me. I looked up to fall back asleep and saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head and saw a shadowy mist in he corner of the room near the window. My eyes widened as I got up and went to leave the room, when all of a sudden it vanished. I immediately threw my clothes on and ran down to the front desk.
I said, “Hi I’m staying in Room 252 and-“
I was immediately cut off by the lady at the desk, “Let me guess weird things are going on and you want to change rooms.”
I said, “How did you know?”
She said, “You’re the 4th person in a month that has requested that. Whenever we put someone in there the covers are thrown around the room and the peoples stuff is folded on the bed no matter how many times you put them away.”
She switched my room and told me they are a new hotel and have been receiving a number of complaints from the guests in that room and she would have no problem switching my room. So I got the new room number and card and went up to the room. I walked in and saw the bed was made and all of my things were folded and placed neatly on the bed. My suitcase we on the bed also open. It looked like I was about to leave the trip. I started to put my things in the suitcase when I heard a beeping noise. I turned and saw my lab-top open and turned on. I walked over to it and saw that Microsoft Word was open again and there was another sentence on it. “This is my room and you’d better leave!’ When I saw it a chill ran up my spine and out of the corner of my eye I saw someone standing near the door. I threw my things in the suitcase grabbed my lab-top and ran out of the room. I went to my new room and I have been there ever since. No weird things have happened since then. I will be leaving in a week.
I called the manager the next day and asked her about the room and why was it haunted. She proceeded to tell me that she didn’t believe in ghosts until the complaints started. She told me two weeks earlier she took a customer up to the room because of a problem with the lights they were flickering. When they walked into the room they noticed it was very chilly in the room and the air wasn’t on. In the room there are 2 chairs and a little table. When they turned the lights on they saw the chairs were stacked on the table and blankets were folded in one corner of the bed! They quickly left without checking the lights. She also told me that the maids refuse going in the room. They told her no matter how many times they make the bed when they turn around something unmakes the bed and there is not enough time for someone to do it. And things are stacked when they go in there. I told her that if she has any information on who used to own the land before the hotel to let me know. It was definitely a memorable first day of my business trip and I have no problems staying at the hotel just Room 252.
