Crying Ghost. 10/29/04

Last Friday night I went out to a Halloween party at my friends house. There were only 4 of us there and we were all sitting around and having a good time. Since my friend had just gotten over a bad drug and alcohol addiction we decided to keep it a nice dry party. Mid-evening one of our friends suggested we go to an abandoned house down the street from him to get in the Halloween spirit. I agreed because I love doing this sort of thing. So after persuading all of the other people to go we all went down the street and went to the house.
Now on the way to the house my friend gave us a brief history of the house, it is a old fashioned mansion , there was a childless couple who lived there for 20 some odd years. The wife one day up and left her husband for another man. After that the man became distraught and quit his job and sat at home and lived like a hermit. He kept up with the bills until he ran out of money then walked out on the front porch and put a gun in his mouth and killed himself. His relatives came to the house after that and looted anything they could. The house still stands boarded up. But it is said some nights you can hear moans and cries coming from the house. Which is said to be the distraught soul of the man trapped in the house.
So we got there at 10:30 p.m. and walked up to the house and my friend dared me to go inside. But I refused to go alone, they all looked at me and my friend who was throwing the party figured since this was his idea, he had to go with me. So we left the rest of the group and walked around to the back door we heard heavy footsteps echoing from inside the house but thought it was our minds playing tricks on us. So we went in the house after a few minutes of removing the boards. When we went in the place was a wreck and only equipped with one flashlight, we looked around and went to the front window to show our friends that we were in. As I waved we heard what sounded like a groan coming from the second level of the house. We looked at each other and shown our light up on the second floor. And we saw a shadow move one room to another. So being the dopes we were we went upstairs, and looked through the rooms.
We got to the room we think the shadow went into and saw it must have been the master bedroom, there were papers and pictures all over the floor. I walked towards the window and looked down at my friends they were talking and didn’t see me. Then before I could turn I felt a cold chill run down my spine and what felt like a hand quickly touch me on my shoulder. My eyes widened and I was afraid to turn around. When I did my friend was gone and the temperature of the room dropped dramatically. I went to call out my friends name and couldn’t speak. It felt like a vice on my throat as I panicked to catch my breath. I finally caught my breath and went to run from the room and when I saw the door slowly starting to close, I reached for the doorknob and it slammed the rest of the way shut. I heard my friend run up to the other side of the door and started to bang on it and call my name. I tried to pull the door open but couldn’t budge it and I yelled for my friend. When it went quiet for a second I heard an echoey cry coming from the other side of the room. Being scared and of course my friend had the flashlight, I slowly turned and saw an outline of a man standing there looking out the window sobbing, where I should have been scared I felt a great sadness come over me. After 30 seconds of not being able to speak, I asked, “What’s wrong?” The man turned to me and said, “What do I do now?” I didn’t know what to say, I was so confused at what I was seeing, and thinking, that this couldn’t be happening. I finally blurted out, “Don’t worry, everything will be alright.” Then without warning he vanished, the room warmed up a bit and the door creaked open slightly.
Finally realizing what happened, I freaked and ran from the room where I met my friend. We both ran from the house and met up with the other two in the front of the house. I told them what happened and they all looked at me weird. Even my friend who was there and saw the door close was making me sound nuts. I know that I am not crazy, and I am a pretty rational guy. But couldn’t come up with any logical or scientific explanation other than what I saw was a ghost. We started to leave and I looked up at the window I was at and saw the same man standing there peering down at us with a very cold expression. I screamed, “Look!” Everyone turned and then I looked around and saw that everyone there could see what I saw. And before I could say anything the rest of the party was running away. But I know they believe me now!
