I was attending CMU in Mt.Pleasant, Mi in the early '90's and I used to walk into town to visit a house where a Christian church group would meet to sing and socialize. I know it's stupid to walk back to campus alone in the dark, but for some reason I did. BIG MISTAKE.
It was a very windy night, but I noticed as I walked past the stop signs they would "freeze". Then, I felt something behind me. I looked back and saw a shadow man partially hid behind a tree. He was tall and absorbed all the light around him. I heard all the dogs bark in unison. When I'd get to a yard with wildly barking dogs, they'd stop until I passed.
-----CHILLS---------------
I ran back to my dorm.
I heard a frat boy yell from the top of a frat house, "Girls shouldn't walk home alone in the dark! Don't you know that?!" I just looked up at him, but I couldn't speak.
I prayed so hard and then I saw the light of the Barnard Hall entry. THANK GOD! He came in faster after me, but he didn't cross the road to my dorm.
I burst in through the doors and into the company of a handful of people.
I looked back to see the shadow man. He just stood across the street. Taunting me. He couldn't get me, but he made it feel like he enjoyed giving me a scare.
That was the first and last time I experienced the Shadow Man.
