(1) Try experimenting with two pairs of socks to see if that made it better or worse.
(2) Many laces are made of synthetic material which tends to stretch after one has been walking for a while. It is therefore a good idea to tighten up the laces a bit after walking for about half an hour.
I think I also said that it was not a good idea to have cut your nails the day before walking - about three days beforehand allows the tender skin that was previous under the nail to harden up.
