Very sad news

I am most sorry to hear of Charlie Brown's death. He was far too young to die. I estimate that his age was about 57. He was an active and enthusiastic member of the 8th during the '60s, as so well explained by Pete. He participated in many canoe races including the Devises to Westminster more than once.

My photographic records for that era are all slides, all stowed awy in my loft, so they will take a bit of unearthing. The last time I had them out was at the requst of Steve to find some "interesting" shots of you for your 50th birthday, Pete. What I can immediately do is point you to a picture in the Trident section of this Website.

Charlie is right in the middle of the picture with a red bobble hat and a black jacket. To his right is his younger brother Richard, also with a red bobble hat but with a blue jacket. Two other people in the picture are no longer with us: Phil Holliday and Colin Haskell.

I haven't seen Charlie for many a long year and it is sad to think that I never will now. I remember him with happy and entirely positive feelings. My thoughts are with his family in Australia and his brother at this time.
